Cherry Lemon Drop Martini
Recently, we went out with a group of friends to dinner to help celebrate a friend being relocating to Cali for the Navy and one friend who got accepted into a Master's program. The restaurant we went to had some really yummy cocktails on their menu. I ordered their Cherry Lemon Drop Martini and it was super delish! A hint of sweetness mixed with the tartness of the lemon and lime. It was one of those drinks that I knew we could go home and recreate.
It's a simple drink to make if you have all the right bar equipment. Having the right equipment, makes ALL the difference in creating those drinks you enjoy when dining out. I'm telling you, if you get what you need, you'll be making some fancy drinks in no time. Your standard bar tools you'll want to have on hand are; a shaker, jigger (or a small ounce size measuring cup), bar spoon, a small fine drink strainer and different cocktail/drink glasses.
That's pretty much it....simple! You can get a lot of your tools off Amazon or even any home store. Most of our bar tools, we ordered off Amazon and Crate and Barrel. We have shopped for our glasses at Cost Plus World Market, Crate and Barrel, Pier One, Bed Bath and Beyond, etc.
With having the right bar tools, you will want to make sure you have the right ingredients. You don't want to skimp on that either. Better ingredients, makes better drinks.
It took us a couple of tries to recreate the delicious cherry lemon drop I had, heck I didn't mind having to sample them until we nailed it! LOL....totally worth it. HA!
This will be a drink we will make again for any party or get together we have at the house to just a night at home when wanting a cocktail but don't want to go out to a restaurant to get one.
Cherry Lemon Drop Martini
* 2oz. Cherry Vodka (Three Olives Cherry Vodka)
* 1oz. Vodka
* 1/2oz. Lime juice
* 1/2oz. Lemon juice
* 1 1/2oz. Simple Syrup
* 1oz. Sour Mix
* 1 Maraschino Cherry
Take a coupe or footed cocktail glass (like this one https://www.crateandbarrel.com/boxed-cocktail-glasses-set-of-8/s312905) and put it in the freezer before you start mixing your cocktail. Add your vodkas, lime and lemon juices, simple syrup, and sour mix to the shaker, add a scoop of ice (see note below) to the shaker, lid it and shake it for roughly a minute or so. Remove your glass from the freezer and line the rim of the glass with sugar, wait about 15 seconds and reline the rim with sugar again. Take your fine cocktail strainer and place it over the top of your glass and strain your drink from the shaker into your glass. Gently drop one maraschino cherry into the glass. Serve and thoroughly enjoy!
**Note: Make sure you are using store bought ice. The ice that comes out of your freezer leaves the drinks with a weird taste. Make sure your ice is clear, good ice. It seriously makes a huge difference.
